This 350-hour program is available in full-time and part-time formats to support working professionals in industrial and manufacturing environments. Delivered through instructor-led, theory-focused training, the course aligns with the Red Seal Occupational Standard (RSOS) for Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) and prepares candidates to confidently challenge the Red Seal exam.
Millwrights, also known as Industrial Mechanics, are highly skilled trades professionals responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and dismantling industrial machinery and mechanical equipment. Their work is essential to the operation of manufacturing plants, processing facilities, power generation sites, and other industrial environments where complex mechanical systems are used.
Millwrights interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and manufacturer specifications to plan equipment installation and maintenance procedures. They apply advanced knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmission, and alignment principles, to ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently. Precision, analytical skills, and strict adherence to safety protocols are critical in this trade.
In addition to installation and maintenance tasks, Millwrights perform equipment inspections, diagnose mechanical faults, and carry out corrective repairs to minimize downtime and maintain productivity. They work with bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, compressors, and rotating equipment, often collaborating with electricians, engineers, and operations teams to support continuous industrial operations.
Red Seal–certified Millwrights demonstrate nationally recognized competence in mechanical theory and industrial trade practices, allowing them to work across Canada without additional provincial certification. This certification reflects a high level of technical expertise, safety awareness, and readiness to meet national occupational standards in industrial mechanical environments.
