This 350-hour program is available in full-time and part-time formats to support working professionals in the electrical trade. Delivered through instructor-led, theory-focused training, the course aligns with the Red Seal Occupational Standard (RSOS) for Construction Electricians and prepares candidates to confidently challenge the Red Seal exam.
Construction Electricians are skilled trades professionals responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial construction settings. Their work ensures that electrical systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with electrical codes, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Construction Electricians interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and specifications to plan system layouts and installation procedures. They apply in-depth knowledge of electrical theory, circuitry, and control systems to safely install wiring, conduit, panels, lighting systems, and power distribution equipment. Precision, attention to detail, and adherence to safety practices are essential in this trade.
In addition to installation work, Construction Electricians test electrical systems for continuity, grounding, and proper operation. They must understand electrical calculations, load requirements, and code compliance to ensure systems meet safety and performance standards. Their role often involves diagnosing faults, performing repairs, and coordinating work with other construction professionals on active job sites.
Red Seal–certified Construction Electricians demonstrate nationally recognized competence in electrical theory and trade practices, allowing them to work across Canada without additional provincial certification. This certification reflects a high level of technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and readiness to meet national occupational standards in the electrical trade.
